jjslist.com and the Disability Awareness Players

jjslist.com is a social enterprise of Search. jjslist.com provides a communication platform for businesses to connect with individuals with disabilities and integrate disability-aware marketing, branding, customer service and employment practices into core business strategies.

Businesses take advantage of the extensive social media reach of the website jjslist.com to promote their brands to thousands of monthly viewers. In addition, a growing disability marketplace uses jjslist.com for self-advocacy by posting consumer reviews and rating the disability awareness of businesses' services, products and staff.

The Disability Awareness Players

The Disability Awareness Players, a signature service team of jjslist.com, trains companies, business associations and trade groups to communicate comfortably and appropriately with prospective hires, customers and current employees who have disabilities.

The Disability Awareness Players are a dynamic and interactive troupe that train businesses to integrate disability-aware customer service and employment practices into core business strategies. Established in 2009, the Players have trained nearly 3,000 individuals at retail businesses, theaters, libraries, schools, trade associations, nonprofit organizations and corporations to communicate comfortably and confidently with prospective hires, customers and current employees who have disabilities. Whole Foods, Siemens Corporation, Northern Trust, Steppenwolf, Sam's Club and 1871 are just a few of the businesses that have improved their disability awareness by participating in these trainings.

jjslist.com and Search, Inc.
Innovation and entrepreneurialism have always been at the core of Search's values and, in 2013, the organization announced a merger with jjslist.com (then known as JJ's List). With an influx of new resources, jjslist.com was able to strengthen its mission to provide essential training, education and advocacy to build opportunities for young adults with disabilities. Search gained a powerful partner and expanded opportunities for individuals in its programs to promote disability awareness and participate in self-advocacy activities through jjslist.com. In the fall of 2013, jjslist.com and Search collaboratively launched No Boundaries, a supported education program designed to help individuals with disabilities build workplace skills, obtain competitive employment, achieve personal and career goals and participate more fully in their communities.
